The Thane Rotary Charity Trust are the organisers of this event and was formed by Rotary Club of Thane for furthering charitable causes. Rotary Club of Thane, chartered on 02nd June 1958 is a part of the Rotary International family, which has over 1.2 million members spread over 256 countries. During this Rotary year (July 2016-June 2017), they have embarked on a special journey to set up a Dialysis centre for the under-privileged in Thane and are seeking the support of individuals who share their concerns and vision for the society. One of the most concerning and growing health issue in India today is CKD (Chronic Kidney Disorder). This disease affects all strata of society including the economically less privileged. 'Dialysis' is the most common and basic solution for this disorder. On an average, a CKD patient needs to undergo dialysis 3 times a week and each dialysis costs a minimum of INR 1200 considering the capital investment, medical supervision and consumables. This takes the average cost of undergoing dialysis per month to over INR 15,000 plus medicines and tests. The costs are way beyond the reach of a normal earning Indian. They propose to set up this facility and make it available for a nominal amount to the economically less privileged. This proposed dialysis centre will have initial capacity of 10 dialysis machines and will run for 365 days a year for 12 hours a day. This will enable them to carry out at least 200 dialysis procedures per week and treat around 100 patients on permanent basis. This charitable facility will ensure affordable life saving medical care for people living in and around Thane on a sustainable basis. To raise funds for this cause, they are organising a musical concert by Mr Hariharan in Thane on 20th November 2016. Mr. Hariharan shall be performing in Thane after a very long time. They welcome socially conscious individuals to support this cause through Donor Passes and be enchanted by a multiple award winning artist.
